Beloved Yoga

I wanted to share the video we had on our Main Page in this forum to see if people wanted to discuss it. In this video a Harvard-trained neuroscientist has a stroke and is consciously aware as the left lobe of her brain goes "offline" and she experiences life with only the right side of her brain functioning. It is amazing!

Hi Jayanta: This is such an exciting video. It is making its way throughout the internet. I must have had it forwarded to me by at least three sources. Anything that speaks of an upleveling of consciousness is exciting and what this woman in essence is saying is that perhaps we have a choice between using the right or left brain. I think it would take a lot of awareness for this to occur, but just that the possibility exists is exciting. Thanks for sharing it on your post. Love, Uma P.S. I am also excited by Eckert Tolle's appearance on Monday nights at 9:00 pm for 10 weeks, the next one tonight. He is being hosted by Oprah and she is a wonderful conduit for his form of consciousness.

After seeing the video clip, it made me wonder in regards, to enlighted beings and Gurus, if they are using mostly their right half of the brain, and if it is possible to choose the use between the left and right side of the brain. Is it something you can consiously train yourself to do.?
It is very interesting, and I saw many responds to this video on "youtube"

Hi Yamuna Jaya,

My feeling is that any moment we have a pure right-brained experience it is a moment of enlightenment but to be fully aware of both hemispheres and their functions at any given moment is liberation. In the video Jill estimates an 85-15% split for left-right functioning and we should strive for a 50-50 split. I don't know about percentages but in my opinion it comes down to what Ma calls the Art of Non-Reaction. When we "plug in" to the right brain with spiritual practice and meditation we enhance our ability to hesitate in a moment of reaction. The left brain reacts and expresses while the right brain experiences. With meditation and awareness we can come to rest in the right brain, in the present moment and then wield the left brain like the magnificent instrument it is. Leading with the right is a much safer bet, leading with love and gratitude.
Many yogis or spiritual practitioners can become out of balance as the left is negated in favor of the right. When I first started practicing yoga I was all about the final relaxation. Through Kali Natha Yoga I have learned that the practice brings us deeper into the body and into our life rather than using it as an escape. To balance awareness with intention/movement is to balance right and left. I guess the key is to 'be' in the right and 'step' with the left, this is the dance of conscious living.

Love and Victory,

Jayanta
