Philosophy of the Father

The Avadhuta Gita by Dattatreya is the communication of the experience of the One. Jesus used the Aramaic word Abwoon as 'Our Father' in the famous prayer. Abwoon may also be translated as the 'One without a second'. How do we acknowledge that Oneness, experience it? It can not be understood by the mind that is steeped in duality. The Philosophy of One or Advaita of which the Avadhuta Gita is an incredible example allows us to begin to thin out the mind through concentration on what the academic… Continue

A Devastating New Year

Devastated sky
Manifests humility
There is only One.

As I looked to the stars last night the shear vastness of the universe gripped me and obliterated the mind. I was delighfully devastated. In Sanskrit the word for the Gods are the Devas. In this moment the Devas revealed themselves as the stars and celestial bodies. To really allow the magnitude of the cosmos to sink into the stardust of my mind-body sucked the wind from ego and took my breath away. In the simplicity that followed as t… Continue

The Father, Son and the Holy Mother

Celebrating Christmas at Kashi is such a blessed moment. At our Christmas gathering as we honor the great Master, Jesus Christ and his great teachings of love that have lasted the test of time we never forget the Mother. I live in a community dedicated to compassionate service to humanity and the passionate practice of devotion to one's Beloved. The Christ is my Beloved.

My life is a continual exploration of the spirituality and mysticism of the Christ through the ancient system of yoga. The tr… Continue

Faith, Fitness and Freedom

I have been blessed to live in a community that is dedicated to spirituality and service. My teacher continues to share with me the magic of devotional movement through Kali Natha Yoga. In our most recent yoga teacher's training I had the good fortune of sharing some of the foundational elements of Kali Natha Yoga that can be brought into any movement to flood it with awareness and with faith.

Moving Prayer
Yoga, for me, took on a whole new perspective when I spontaneously connected the… Continue

Thank-you for the kind and generous feedback! The Fire scrub is my husband Bill's favourite too. It's the least I can do and I'm glad you're enjoying it. Still processing and feeling the good effects of the workshop.
I'll be in touch. Om Shanti, Alexandra

Now I pay my respects to the God and Goddess who
are the limitless primal parents of the universe.

The lover himself, out of boundless love, becomes
the beloved, and the beloved becomes the lover.

Each taking the place of the other, they reside on
the same charming spot. They are made of the same
substance and share the same food.

They are so averse to separation that not even their
child, the universe, can disturb their union.

Seated on the same ground, wearing the same garment
of light, they dwell together in eternal bliss.

How sweat and mysterious is their union! Though the
whole universe is to small to contain them, they dwell
together happily in the tiniest particle.

Each regards his spouse as his very life, and neither
creates so much as a blade of grass without the other.

Abashed at the darkness of Her formless husband,
She weaves the universe of names and forms from
Her very being, and clothes Him in a
resplendent garment.

From an unpublished rendering of Amritanubhav,
by George Franklin.
